Hello, I'm Casey, and I'm passionate about helping young adults, particularly those aged 18 to 35, navigate the complexities of life. My journey to becoming a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor began after years of teaching at a college of art and design. During that time, I worked with later adolescents and young adults who faced challenges that often felt overwhelming, leading some to consider dropping out of school. I realized these struggles were a normal part of their development, and I wanted to be in a position to help them see that they had the power to overcome these obstacles and continue on their path toward a fulfilling future. At the age of 44, I decided to pursue graduate school, where I gained invaluable experience during my practicum and internships working with severely mentally ill adults, individuals in medication-assisted recovery, and college students. After graduating, I returned to the art college as their resident therapist for four years. I also spent nearly a year working as an inpatient therapist at a mental health hospital. Through my experiences, I've learned that trauma and family problems are significant contributors to unhelpful behaviors and beliefs that can hinder our daily functioning and prevent us from flourishing. I often describe this process as untangling a bowl of spaghetti – it can be challenging, but with patience and effort, we can make sense of our lives. Therapy is a powerful tool that helps us identify our strengths and gives us the courage to take steps in the right direction. In our sessions, you can expect a supportive and non-judgmental environment where we work together to explore your thoughts and feelings. My goal is to help you build resilience and find clarity in your life's journey. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, family or romantic relationship issues, life transitions, PTSD, or trauma, I'm here to support you through it all.
