“Charles pinpoints your weakness what you try to keep hidden, and helps you overcome and encourages you with every visit to become a better version of yourself. To make sure you feel like you again, he takes the time to actually understand you and where you’re coming from. He has helped me so much in a short amount of time I didn’t think was honestly possible, he’s straightforward and honest with you rather you can take the honesty or not that’s up to you. The man has so much passion for his career to help everyone who comes to him, you definitely won’t be disappointed!!”

Getting to know Charles Orwig

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work and a Bachelor's degree from Appalachian State University. I utilize a person-in-environment approach and a client-centered perspective to provide understanding and care. My experience includes working with individuals, couples, and teens. I believe in a holistic, client-centered approach to mental health and well-being. I specialize in helping clients overcome feelings of inadequacy, navigate conflicts in their relationships, and work together to find hope and purpose in their lives. I offer specialized therapy sessions tailored to address your unique needs and challenges. I work with clients facing depression or trauma, particularly related to relationships or family. In our initial sessions, we'll explore your concerns and develop a personalized plan to address them. Using a mix of Experiential Therapy, CBT, EMDR, and CPT, we collaborate because you are the expert in your own life. Together, we work to reduce your symptoms with a plan that works for you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a therapist, my strengths lie in creating a compassionate, client-centered environment where individuals feel heard, valued, and understood. I specialize in helping clients navigate inadequacy, heal trauma, and reframe their narratives to foster empowerment. With empathy and clarity, I tailor your therapy to support growth, resilience, and lasting change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In my practice, I use the relational approach to tailor treatment to your unique needs. My initial focus is a strong therapeutic relationship. Im a firm believer that the client is the expert and the therapeutic relationship depends on the client's expertise in their life, and my expertise in therapeutic intervention using CBT, Gottman, IFS, and EMDR

Charles is fantastic. Our first appointment and he had me open up. He listened to my ranting and was able to accurately summarize without me feeling like I was being judged. He was able to share that he could relate to me and level with me. He was perfectly upfront telling what I NEED to hear, not what I want to hear. I will continue working with him toward bettering myself, for me and those around me.

I highly recommend Charles Orwig for anyone who is seeking a therapist that specializes in trauma therapy. He is passionate about helping his clients, is extremely supportive and has an excellent understanding of how to guide his clients through their therapy process. He’s super down to earth and very easy to relate to. It is my pleasure to leave Charles this excellent review, as I firmly believe that anyone who is fortunate enough to be his client will quickly realize the positive changes and outlook in their life that he can make. I’ve been seeing him on a weekly basis and can attest to the healthy and positive changes that seeing him has made in my journey.
Charles is such an easy person to talk to and I feel very comfortable with him. He offers several different kinds of therapy and is willing to work with you and at your comfort level. He pushes me to work on myself, but gently, and is aware of my boundaries and respects them. Since going to him I feel both better about myself and my place in the world. I’m very happy with his therapeutic approach and highly recommend his services.
Charles is very thorough. He's friendly and kind. He makes feel very comfortable, but yet gets right to the point in how to treat whatever you are going through. Before going to Charles I was dealing with a lot head he has taught me how to deal with each individual thing. My head is quiet now I'm getting better, but I still have some work to go.
A very patient and intuitive listener. I was very pleased by his thoughtful and direct questions. Both the environment and his approach to counsel immediately put me at ease. Very professional and personable. Highly recommend.
