Psychotherapist
MD
When anxiety, OCD, trauma, or addiction starts taking up too much space in your life, knowing what the problem is doesn’t always make it easier to change. You may be functioning well on the outside while privately feeling overwhelmed, stuck in repetitive patterns, or frustrated that the same struggles keep showing up despite your best efforts. I provide specialized psychotherapy for adults navigating anxiety, OCD and panic, trauma and PTSD, addiction and recovery, emotional dysregulation, and relationship difficulties. My work focuses not only on helping you feel better in the moment, but on understanding what is keeping the problem going and helping you develop more effective ways of responding. My approach is active, collaborative, and individualized. I integrate evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS), tailoring treatment to your symptoms, history, and goals. I bring almost 15 years of experience working with addiction and complex mental health concerns, including situations where anxiety, trauma, substance use, relationship difficulties, and other concerns overlap. My style is warm and compassionate, but also direct. I believe effective therapy should help you feel understood while also helping you recognize patterns, build practical skills, and make meaningful changes outside of the therapy room. You do not need to know exactly what is wrong or what type of therapy you need before reaching out. We can start with what is happening now, understand the bigger picture together, and develop a treatment approach that helps you move forward.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, supportive, and direct, which means I’m not going to sit quietly and nod for 50 minutes. We’ll get curious about what’s happening, figure out what keeps pulling you back into the same patterns, and talk honestly about what needs to change. My background in trauma and addiction has taught me that behaviors that look confusing from the outside usually make a lot more sense once you understand what they’re doing for you. I use evidence-based treatment, but I don’t believe therapy should feel like following a manual. Expect compassion, humor when appropriate, practical strategies, and someone who will support you while also being willing to challenge you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical session with me is conversational, active, and focused on what is actually happening in your life. We might start with something that happened this week and realize pretty quickly that it connects to a pattern that has been showing up for years. I’ll ask questions, point out things I notice, teach skills when they’re useful, and sometimes challenge you to look at something differently. Some sessions involve digging into difficult experiences; others are about solving a problem that happened Tuesday. There may be homework, there will probably be humor, and I will almost certainly remember the thing you casually mentioned three weeks ago. The goal is for you to leave with more than “that was nice to talk about”. I want you to understand yourself better and have something you can actually use outside of therapy.

More information on payments and coverage

Eckhouse Therapy is an out-of-network practice, which means payment is made directly at the time of service rather than billed to insurance. If your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement from your insurance company. I provide superbills with the information needed to submit claims for reimbursement. Because every plan is different, I recommend checking with your insurance provider to understand your specific out-of-network benefits, deductible, and reimbursement rate.
