Psychotherapist

"Hello, I'm Clarissa. It's great to have some tools, but sometimes we all need help, especially during the harder times in our life's journey. Knowing how to navigate those life transitions can be very difficult, and that's where I come in to support you. I graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, in 2018 with a Master’s Degree in Health Sciences and Social Work. As a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), I bring eight years of diverse experience to my practice. I spent four years in individual practice and another four years in various roles, including working at a trauma-informed behavioral health center for children ages 5-18. My goal there was to help children stay in their homes and out of 'the system.' I am also trained in EMDR, a trauma-focused therapy designed to help individuals work through PTSD symptoms. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with police officers, veterans, and others who have experienced trauma, including sexual trauma. My approach to therapy is flexible and tailored to fit what you are experiencing. I utilize a variety of methods and techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and problem-solving strategies. While I primarily work with adults now, my focus remains on helping clients manage PTSD, anxiety, and depression. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process, and I am here to walk with you through your journey, easing the stressors of life. Whether you're dealing with somatic symptom disorder, anger management, antisocial behavior, ADHD, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, adolescent and teen mental/behavioral health, dissociative disorders, family relationships, grief, life transitions, military/veteran support, phobias, psychosis/schizophrenia, stress, suicidal ideation, self-harming, or trauma, I am here to help.
