Getting to know Danah Alghamdi

Danah AlGhamdi, MA, MHC-LP is a New York State Mental Health Counselor (Limited Permit) who earned a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from NYU. She has experience working with adults navigating relationship and sexual concerns, emotional challenges, and difficult behavioral patterns. Her background includes work in both inpatient mental health settings and private practice, where she has supported clients through life transitions, trauma, grief, and self-discovery.

What should a new client know about working with you?

For me, therapy is about creating a space where you can truly be yourself—no judgment, no expectations, just understanding. I believe growth happens when we embrace who we are, and I’m here to help you do that. Using a mix of humanistic, multicultural, and evidence-based approaches, I aim to support you in feeling safe, valued, and empowered to explore all aspects of your life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach is collaborative, client-centered, and grounded in creating a space where clients feel safe enough to explore all parts of themselves. I focus on helping clients deepen their emotional awareness and understanding, while also integrating practical tools—such as emotion regulation, belief work, and communication skills—to support meaningful change. I’m active in sessions, offering reflections, insight, and guidance as we work together to understand patterns, process experiences, and build a stronger, more grounded sense of self.

Danah is truly one of the best therapists out there ever who is MEANT to be a therapist. She is direct and honest when you need to be challenged, curious and patient when you need to be understood, and definitely compassionate at all times. I appreciate her ability to know when you need an ear and when you need something more actionable. She made me feel like there’s nothing I can’t overcome and made me accept what’s out of my control. Truly grateful for her.
