Psychotherapist

"Hello, I'm Dani, the owner of A Phoenix Life Counseling & Consulting Services, and I am thrilled to be a part of your healing and growth journey! As a trauma-specialized therapist, I bring a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to helping you navigate life's challenges and find your path to well-being. I offer therapy for individuals, families, and couples, working with both adults and youth. Whether you prefer virtual sessions throughout the state of VA or in-person meetings in the Hampton Roads Area, I am here to support you. I even offer sessions in public spaces or nature trails for a more relaxed setting. Group therapy will be available soon, expanding the ways we can work together. My clinical focus includes trauma, complex PTSD, anxiety and mood disorders, military service-related stress, chronic and acute suicidality, complex depression, self-harming behaviors, traumatic brain injury-related stressors, dissociative disorders, ADHD, and crisis intervention. Additionally, I am well-versed in assessment and testing, career counseling, parenting, sexual and gender-related issues (including fertility complications), eating disorders, dual diagnosis, and homeopathic care. I graduated with honors with my master’s in mental health counseling in June 2020, and I am currently a third-year PhD student in psychology. I was honored to present at the 2022 and 2023 VCA State Conference and received the 2022 VCA Emerging Leaders in Counseling Award. My experience spans inpatient care (both medical and mental health, voluntary and involuntary), outpatient, crisis response, in-home, residential, and private practice settings. Before transitioning to mental health care, I worked as an EMT and a 911 operator, and I have been a member of my local Emergency Response Team for the last 10 years, focusing on Disaster Psychology.
