NOTE: I am not able to prescribe medications, but I am happy to work with any medical provider you might have. I believe that we all struggle, at times, to cope with difficult feelings. You know, the ones that have been with us all our lives? The ones that make us feel stuck and hopeless at times? I also believe that we can make some sense out of our feelings by examining past relationships. With this awareness, we can begin to look at your current feelings and relationships. In a non-judgmental environment, come as you are. We will approach this together. I am a therapist who brings warmth, acceptance, and a treasure trove of skills to the process of helping my clients tackle and resolve these kinds of challenges. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Yeshiva University and have completed intensive psychotherapy training at the Institute for the Psychoanalytic Study of Subjectivity. Additionally, I completed an externship in Emotionally Focused Therapy at the Ackerman Institute for the Family and training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy through the Beck Institute. I can help you dig down and get clear about what needs to change so you can have the life and connection that you deeply desire. Together, we can work towards a more balanced and satisfying way of living. Contact me below so we can work together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The sessions are customized to you and your treatment goals. They can be more structured sessions that focus on developing skills (like mindfulness or cognitive restructuring) and practicing them during the week. During these structured sessions, you will need to complete an action plan or home practice and track your results to discuss them in the next session. We can also do less structured sessions. We can discuss your current emotional experience while recalling distressing or unprocessed personal experiences. You will gain insight into your feelings as you become comfortable verbalizing emotions. We can do a session that involves EMDR as well. Therapy takes time to work. The goal of virtually all forms of therapy is to help you identify your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. You can use this awareness to make better decisions and learn new ways to cope with your everyday struggles. Therapy works when you develop a feeling of safety, emotional support, and trust with your therapist. Another sign that therapy is working is that you feel less anxious and depressed, are more motivated to face problems, and have a more realistic perspective on situations.
