“Debra was really patient and helpful, she listened and gave us great feedback as a couple. There was a little confusion between Zocdoc and Path as third parties but Path helped with insurance and Debra pivoted when she thought she was starting an individual session and got a couple. She gave us hope about the process.”

Getting to know Debra Rice

Hi, I'm Debra Rice, a licensed therapist with over 15 years of experience and a Master's in Social Work from City University of New York, Hunter College. I'd like to know more about everything that's been going on and how you've been dealing with it. My clients say I'm a great listener and that our work together has helped them feel supported and see a path forward they hadn't seen before. I know it can be hard to see positive things when things aren't going well, but I'm here to help you see that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The place you're in right now is temporary, and I'm here to help you find the path forward. My approach My therapy approach is inclusive of several ideologies I have found helpful in my 15 years of practice. My initial goal is to understand your values, problems as you see them, your strengths, and what you would like to achieve to feel your life is moving forward in a positive way. My clients say I help them make sense out of chaos or feeling overwhelmed. My approach is supportive, solution-focused, and holistic. My focus I work with clients from a variety of backgrounds and life circumstances. Reducing stress is universal and something that can benefit everyone. We'll work on learning healthy coping skills and increasing self-confidence to minimize and manage the everyday stressors in life. I believe in the mind-body connection of health and wellness. My communication style As for our communications, I normally work with phone sessions, but we can also do video chats if we decide that's preferable. My clients have said I'm a great listener-they always feel heard and understood. During our sessions, we'll work together to identify and understand any problems and possible roadblocks from the past. We'll make a plan and work toward your goals as a team. My goals for you I use a SMART goals template for achieving goals without a perfectionist mindset. Sometimes we take a step back for every two steps forward.

Debra is understanding, a wonderful listener, and completely free of judgement. She’s been helpful in just a few short sessions.
Debra is extremely insightful and respectful. I always come away in awe of what just happened in therapy-- literally every time. My life has transformed.
Debra is simply wonderful. Her easy going nature helped simplify everything. She listens thoughtfully and offers new perspectives. I'm very grateful for her insight, and her kindness.
Debra is an extremely gifted listener and counselor. I am always amazed at what she can extract from my ramblings. Within these ramblings contain a thread that leads to my key issues that I really need to deal with. The thread always felt like a tangled mess but now I see it as a simple through-line that is manageable. I highly recommend her. She has helped me in every aspect of my life.
She is the first therapist I’ve been to who actually listens to me. She repeats back what I’ve said and asks questions for clarity. She’s really helping me!!
