What should a new client know about working with you?

New clients can expect a warm, collaborative, and supportive approach to therapy. I work to create a space where you can feel comfortable being open, without judgment, while also helping you make meaningful progress toward your goals. My style is practical and individualized. Depending on your needs, I may incorporate techniques from DBT to strengthen emotional regulation, distress tolerance, communication, and coping skills, as well as EMDR to help process trauma and difficult past experiences. Therapy is not one-size-fits-all, so we will work together to determine what feels most helpful and appropriate for you. I value honesty, consistency, and a strong therapeutic relationship. My goal is for you to leave sessions not only feeling heard and understood, but also with greater insight and concrete tools you can use in everyday life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical first session focuses on getting to know you, understanding what brings you to therapy, and identifying the changes you would like to make. We’ll talk about your current concerns, relevant history, relationships, coping patterns, and what has or has not been helpful in the past. From there, we’ll work together to develop goals and a treatment approach that fits your needs. Sessions may include talk therapy, skills-based work drawn from DBT, and, when appropriate, EMDR to help process trauma or distressing experiences. Some sessions may be more reflective, while others may focus on practicing specific coping, communication, or emotional-regulation skills. My goal is for therapy to feel structured enough to help you move forward, while still leaving room to address what feels most important to you that day.
