Getting to know Donalee Dwyer

I am a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor with a background in nursing, social work, and rehabilitation counseling. My background provides me with a wealth of knowledge and awareness when working with clients. For approximately seven years, I worked with children and teenagers, and for the rest of my career in the human services field, I worked with a mixed population. I utilize innovative theoretical approaches to enhance my clients’ healing process. I believe that individuals are unique with unique characteristics and as such require a distinct way of being with them. I particularly enjoy using a Person-Centered approach and place significant emphasis on creating a strong therapeutic alliance. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Integrative approaches are other approaches frequently used. I enjoy helping others and hope that in life’s journey, I can make a positive impact by assisting others. I enjoy working with individuals who are struggling with boundary-setting, life transitions, and learning to navigate life’s challenges. In my leisure time, I like reading, watching a variety of films, and downtime alone or with family. Adding to that, I enjoy traveling to new places and new countries with family and taking in the experience of new cultures.
