Dorinda Rogers Madera, LMHC

Psychotherapist
NY
Hi, I’m Dorinda Rogers Madera, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC-D) and founder of Seeds of Empowerment Mental Health Counseling. I work with individuals who may appear strong on the outside but are carrying a lot internally—whether that’s anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, life transitions, or feeling disconnected from themselves. My goal is to create a space where you feel supported, grounded, and understood without having to over-explain your experience. My approach is collaborative, non-judgmental, and trauma-informed, with a strong focus on authenticity and real connection. I believe therapy should feel like a place where you can exhale, gain clarity, and begin to move toward a more aligned and fulfilling life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me is a collaborative and supportive process. I meet you where you are, without pressure or judgment, and we move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Many clients come in feeling overwhelmed, unsure of where to start, or used to handling things on their own. You don’t need to have everything figured out—our work begins with creating a space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences openly. My style is relational and person-centered, meaning I tailor sessions to your unique needs. Some sessions may focus on processing and gaining insight, while others may focus on building practical tools to help you navigate day-to-day challenges. The goal is to help you feel more grounded, self-aware, and supported over time.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work typically begins with an initial session where we explore what’s bringing you to therapy, your current challenges, and what you hope to gain from the process. From there, we develop a collaborative plan that fits your goals. Sessions may include: -Exploring patterns in thoughts, emotions, and relationships -Building coping strategies and emotional regulation skills -Processing life experiences in a safe and supportive space -Strengthening self-awareness and confidence Over time, the focus shifts toward helping you integrate what you’ve learned and apply it in your daily life.
