“Emily is a great listener. I felt like I was just talking to a friend, and there wasn’t any judgment. She is very open, honest, and up front about everything. She is extremely good at reading people. She gathered that I am very concerned with other people’s feelings within a few minutes. I trauma dumped on her for atleast 20 minutes yet she somehow followed everything I said, and remembered even the small details of what I said when I was finished.”

Getting to know Emily Reiner

I AM A PRIVATE PAY CLINCIAN. I DO NOT ACCEPT INSURANCE The boring stuff: I earned an MS in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Brenau University in 2018. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC #LPC102425) approved by the Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC #18034) approved by the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors. I am also a Registered Play Therapist (# T5718). I hold certification of completion in AutPlay® Therapy, which is a specialized training for working with Autistic children. I also hold a Gottman Level 1 certificate, which is a specialized training certificate in working with couples. My experience is in private practice and university clinics. The more interesting stuff: I strongly believe each individual is unique and full of potential. As such, providing a supportive and accepting environment is key to my therapeutic practice. I come from a CBT background, which is an approach that empowers individuals to influence their own wellbeing by capturing the power of their own thoughts. I strongly draw from theories such as Humanistic and Positive Psychology. These theories support the concept that individuals have the capability to reach their own potential with the right encouragement. My role as a therapist is not to “fix” or “change" anyone but to support, encourage, and offer alternative perspectives. I enjoy helping clients develop a variety of tools, empowering them to face challenges, and developing a sense of self-capability. I strive for a client-centered, holistic approach, which creates an atmosphere for clients to develop skills and grow in a safe and supportive environment. I often use creative and expressive interventions to both create an engaging atmosphere as well as promote emotional expression, self-discovery, and self-love.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am out of network for all insurances at this time. I do not file with any insurance. I can, however, provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. I highly recommend contacting your insurance to confirm reimbursement policies, as each insurance provider and plan is different.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I'm a down-to-earth, holistically focused therapist who has spent years drawing from various therapeutic methods to create tailor-made therapy experiences. I believe each person is unique and has the potential for healing, joy, and self-acceptance already within them. Whether you are looking to break free from old patterns and process trauma or needing tips and skills on things like communication, conflict, parenting, relationships, or self-growth, we can create a plan that works for you. I am client-centered, meaning you are in charge of what sessions look like. Some clients prefer each session to be focused on behaviors and skill-building while others benefit more from having a safe and supportive environment to process through the past. It's your time and your life. You get to decide. First, I want to get to know you and what your goals are for therapy. We explore what's going on, the barriers as well as your strengths and support systems. From there, you join me weekly/bi-weekly to process challenges, celebrate progress, and navigate barriers. Together, we will create a plan and develop tools to bring you closer to peace and joy. Your confidence will bloom and you will be able to use the skills you learned to handle life’s challenges, find joy in life, and be reconnected with yourself and loved ones.

In addition to my standard session length, I also offer extended sessions on a case-by-case basis. These are most frequently used for Relationship Counseling. If you feel like this is something you would benefit from, please let me know and we can discuss this together. If the cost of therapy is preventing you from getting the support you need, please reach out and we can discuss options.
