Eric Conway, LCPC

Psychotherapist
MD
Welcome! I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) holding a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Hood College. I specialize in treating trauma and substance use or behavioral addictions, while also working with individuals ages 16 and older facing anxiety, depression, co-occurring challenges, and general mental health disorders. Many of the clients who come to my practice have spent a long time trying to manage distress on their own, only to find that short-term coping strategies eventually lead to long-term pain. Whether you are dealing with chronic overthinking, feeling disconnected from those around you, or feeling overwhelmed by life's weight, you do not have to carry it alone. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and deeply trauma-informed. I believe real, lasting recovery begins by exploring how past experiences shape present behaviors, allowing us to identify the root causes of unproductive patterns and heal the wounds that drive them. To best support your unique needs, I blend evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Motivational Interviewing, and Existential Therapy. Together, we can learn to process difficult experiences and build a clear path forward.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me is a collaborative, compassionate, and transparent process. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel genuinely heard and supported from day one. Because I operate exclusively via telehealth, you can join our sessions from the comfort and privacy of your own space. Working with me is a transparent, grounded, and active partnership. Because I operate exclusively through telehealth, you can join our sessions from the privacy and comfort of your own home across Maryland, fitting care seamlessly into your routine without the added stress of a commute. My goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental virtual environment where you feel genuinely heard and supported from day one. In our work together, we focus on moving beyond just talking to gain real-world momentum. We will combine open reflection with tangible skill-building so you leave sessions with actionable strategies to manage intense emotions, break out of frustrating relationship cycles, and shift old habits. Processing trauma and deep-seated patterns requires trust, so we will always work at a pace that feels manageable for you, ensuring you feel supported rather than overwhelmed. During our first session, our primary goal is to get to know each other and build a comfortable rhythm. We will discuss what brings you to therapy, explore what you hope to get out of life, and begin mapping out a clear, actionable path forward to overcome what’s been holding you back. If you’re ready to put in the effort, real and lasting recovery is entirely possible—and I’m here to walk alongside you every step of the way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our process begins with a comprehensive initial telehealth session where we take the time to get to know each other and build a comfortable rhythm. We will explore what brought you to therapy, look at what has been holding you back, and establish what success and meaningful growth look like for you. From there, we meet regularly for weekly or biweekly virtual sessions to work through your custom treatment plan. Early sessions focus on building immediate coping tools to relieve distress, while ongoing sessions dig deeper into root causes, processing trauma, and refining communication skills. As you make progress, we continually review your goals and adjust our focus, working toward lasting independence and long-term recovery.
