Getting to know Erica Tringali

Do you feel like you have to hold it all together, even when things feel off inside? At East Mental Health Counseling, we help people understand what's really driving their anxiety, their relationship patterns, or their burnout. Much of what keeps people stuck comes down to a core belief they hold about themselves or the world, something absorbed years ago that still feels true. It might sound like "I'm not enough," "relationships are dangerous," or "ambition is selfish." These beliefs made sense at some point, often as a way of staying safe. But they can end up costing more than they protect. We use an integrative approach that combines nervous system education with relational, insight-oriented work. We start by helping you get clear on the beliefs and patterns at play, then work through them in a way that changes how you feel and respond day to day, not just how you understand things intellectually. Our therapists bring a range of backgrounds, including experience in high-pressure professional environments, which helps us connect with clients who are used to performing well and are ready to feel steady on the inside too. We work with adults navigating anxiety, burnout, trauma, relationship struggles, and major life transitions. Sessions are warm, direct, and collaborative. Our goal is to help you trust yourself again and build a life that feels like your own. We offer telehealth sessions to clients in New York State. If you're ready to talk, we'd love to hear your story.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Our approach is person-centered, because every client has a unique story. We take seriously that you're trusting us with what's going on underneath the surface. Our therapists are trauma-informed, and we're often able to identify what someone's actually struggling with, even when it's not what they expected to talk about. We're kind and non-judgmental, but we won't let you stay stuck just to keep things comfortable. If you have it together on paper but still feel off inside, we understand that, and we'll be honest with you rather than let you perform your way through sessions. You don't need to have it figured out before you start. That's what we're here to do together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We start by mapping out what's actually driving the pattern you're dealing with. We help you trace where certain beliefs came from, the experiences that shaped how you think, feel, and react now. Many clients have a moment of recognizing a story they've been living from without realizing it. From there, we ground the work in what's happening in your nervous system. You'll come to understand why you shut down, why you overachieve, why your body reacts the way it does, without judgment. Once you see that your system learned these responses, they tend to loosen. We also work with the parts of you that developed these patterns to protect you in the first place. We don't try to shame or push past those parts. We meet them with curiosity, because they served a purpose once. We use evidence-based, nervous-system-focused techniques to help process the experiences behind these beliefs, not just talk about them. This is where the emotional charge tends to lift and the old belief starts to feel less true. Finally, we focus on applying that change in real life. Insight alone tends to fade once you're back in your routine, so we stay with you as you practice new choices in real relationships and under real pressure, until the change actually holds.

Felt very forced. There was no intro. Just dove right in, which felt awkward and forced.

Erica has been a transformative therapist for me in the 1+ years I have been working with her. She uses several therapeutic approaches (including EMDR) to resolve the issue you working on. Working with Erica has helped me get through immensely difficult life moments. Her approach is kind, non-judgmental, but firm on taking steps to get better. I would highly recommend working with Erica and have referred her to several friends!
I started working with Erin to address trauma issues with the EMDR methodology. Erin was always understanding, professional, and eager to apply her skills for my healing. I am very grateful Erin!!
Since my first appointment with Erica a few months ago, many things changed. She helped me to better know myself, how to anticipate certain behaviors and how to deal with them. She's reliable, very sweet and trustful. I'm glad I met Erica!
Erica creates a safe space to talk about your circumstances and feelings. She is a strong listener and slows to speak, but when she does speak up, it is gracious, impactful wisdom for you to take into your daily life.
EMDR was a new form of therapy that I sought out. Working with Erica I finally was able to make headway on changing negative core beliefs and navigate my romantic relationships with less fight, flight or freeze. She is a sweet and soft presence that was brought comfort when facing trauma.
Working with Erica has been such a life changing experience. I have never met someone so kind. Every time I share an experience with her, she listens thoroughly and takes notes. She remembers details about me and comes into every session full of energy. I have had therapists in the past that are distracted during sessions, but Erica gives me her full attention in every session. Every time I’m stressed or anxious, I think about the next time I get to speak with her. I can tell that she deeply cares about the people that she works with ????
Erica has always been so insightful, easy to talk to and very reliable. Whenever I needed extra sessions or to move an appointment, she has been very accommodating. I always look forward to our sessions together and find her to be one of the big reasons I have had so much personal growth in the last 2 years. I would definitely recommend Erica to anyone!
