What should a new client know about working with you?

My areas of specialties include dedication to family violence, sexual violence, addictions, grief/loss, complex trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, human trafficking, child exploitation, behavior intervention, parenting-strengthening the parent-child bond. I provide support for parents and children while focusing on the child's mental wellness through developing coping skills and developing hope for their future. My approach to psychotherapy includes evidence-based intervention and essential techniques to provide effective support. I'm committed to improving the lives of individuals, children, active or retired veterans, and first responders, as well as their families, to overcome challenges and build better lives. Together, you'll navigate past experiences and uncover hidden patterns and perceptions that may impede your progress. I believe healing is possible-even in the shadow of trauma and that the path to recovery begins when individuals feel truly seen, safe, and supported. This belief sits at the heart of my work with first responders, families, and youth affected by the weight of their world. Trauma does not discriminate. It seeps into the lives of individuals and it echoes in the hearts of their loved ones. Trauma lives in silence, in shame, in the unspoken culture of "just deal with it." I reject the idea that anyone must suffer in silence. I believe that vulnerability, when met with safety and skill, is not a weakness-it's where healing starts.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My communication style is calm, direct, and compassionate. I aim to create a space where clients feel seen, heard, and respected-without judgement. I listen actively, ask thoughtful questions, and offer honest feedback when it's helpful. Whether I'm working with individuals in crisis or supporting long-term growth, I strive to balance empathy with clarity, always meeting clients where they are. My approach is adaptable, grounded in professionalism, and guided by the belief that trust and transparency are essential for healing. My passion for counseling is rooted in both personal experience and professional commitment. As a young adult, I survived a traumatic experience that permanently shaped my outlook on human pain, healing, and connection. At a time when I might have felt hopeless or lost, I instead developed a strong resolve: I wanted to be the kind of person I once needed-someone who could hold space for others in their most vulnerable moments. That personal turning point is what drove me to pursue my career. I am licensed with the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). I am a 2006 graduate of Texas A&M University-Kingsville, where I obtained my master's degree in Counseling and Guidance (MS) with my undergraduate work in Criminology, Sociology (BS), and Criminal Justice (AS) from Texas A&M University-Kingsville and Del Mar College. Over the past 18 years, I've dedicated myself to this mission-helping individuals navigate pain, rebuild their lives, and discover their strength. Counseling isn't just my career; it's my calling. Every person I work with is a reminder of why I began this journey: to offer understanding, guidance, and hope to those who need it most.
