Erin Doherty Copeland, LPCC

Erin Doherty Copeland, LPCC

Psychotherapist
KY
I have been practicing for 27 years, working with a wide variety of populations and in many different settings. I hold a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision and a Master's in Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands. I am independently licensed as a professional counselor in KY and MO. I practice primarily from an existential-humanistic approach while also utilizing evidence-based therapies that are most effective for treating the specific disorders, symptoms, or behaviors with which the individual presents. Beyond practicing therapy, I have a special interest in multiculturalism, social justice, and advocacy work. I believe extraneous social factors also impact our emotional well-being, so I am involved in activism that I believe will help change the lives of the people I serve.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Ultimately, therapy is most effective when there is a strong therapeutic alliance between the client and the therapist and this develops from genuine unconditional positive regard and empathy. When this occurs, it creates a safe space where clients feel they can be open and honest to work through issues and problems without fear of judgment or criticism. I feel so honored to be able to serve and treat the people I do.
