“I don't know where to start- Evelyn was my first experience with counseling, and I hope that I continue to find others like her. Getting to know Evelyn Vidal

Hi, I'm Evelyn! I enjoy working with individuals of all ages to meet their counseling goals while assisting in navigating life's challenges, emotions, and experiences. I've had the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients and concerns including sex therapy, anxiety, and depression while specializing in complex trauma, LGBTQ+ issues, interpersonal relationship challenges, cultural and identity development. I hold a Master's in Mental Health Counseling and a Certification in Interdisciplinary Trauma Studies from the State University of New York, Oswego. My training has equipped me to utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques such as psychoeducation, solution-focused, feminist theory, gestalt, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and more. My approach to counseling is rooted in creating a space where you feel heard, safe, and validated while encouraging you to step outside of your comfort zone. Taking the first step can be difficult, but I believe that in the end, you'll be glad you took the leap.

I don't know where to start- Evelyn was my first experience with counseling, and I hope that I continue to find others like her. She made me feel so comfortable and safe, she saw me for who I am helped and helped me to see myself too. She didn't try to "fix" me, she listened- something that is often taken for granted. I can't thank her enough.
Evelyn was my first experience with counseling after a VERY long time- I was skeptical because of my last experience but she changed that. She accommodated me, she listened to me, she helped me work through my social anxiety and break free from the intrusive thoughts. I have an entirely new view on life and the things I can do, and I don't think I could've gotten to where I am today without her.
I started seeing Evelyn when I was 17- she helped me work through traumatic memories and manage relationships with people, including my family. She helped me create boundaries and live life for myself, not for someone else. I can't even begin to express my gratitude for Evelyn- she was the perfect counselor for me and has established an expectation for future counseling.
I saw Evelyn when she was a graduate student working in the on-campus counseling center. She was very welcoming with whatever issue I brought to her each week. I enjoyed talking to a younger therapist because I felt that Evelyn could understand what I was attempting to convey which was not always the case with older previous therapists. The space she created during our sessions was always comforting and safe where I could rant or cry about what was bothering me.
I had a wonderful experience with Evelyn as my counselor. She's attentive and warm, receptive to what I have to say about my issues. She really gave me the help and encouragement I needed at the time.
I really enjoyed our sessions. That was my first time doing any kind of therapy, so I was scared and uncomfortable. But Evelyn made me feel very safe and it was easy for me to slip into a comfortable setting with her. She was very respectful of my boundaries while also knowing when and how to push in order to make progress. It may sound cliche, but I really do feel like a new person after going to therapy. I am a very different person that before I started meeting with Evelyn. And I have continued to grow a lot since then. It was a shame that I only had her for one semester, I definitely would have liked to continue to see her. But again, she did a really great job and she really helped me in a way that I never really had before.
