Getting to know Farah Reynoso

I’m a bilingual, trauma-informed therapist with a background in school-based mental health and community care. My work centers on supporting people navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, identity, relationships, and the experiences of immigrant and multicultural communities. I take a curious, whole-person approach, drawing from CBT, DBT, EMDR, motivational interviewing, and somatic practices. I’m also a certified yoga and meditation teacher, and I incorporate mindfulness and body-based approaches when they feel supportive and aligned with a client’s needs. I’m especially passionate about creating a space where clients can explore their experiences, identities, relationships, and sense of belonging without having to leave parts of themselves at the door. My goal is to help clients feel more connected to themselves while developing practical tools to navigate life with greater compassion, awareness, and agency.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe therapy is a collaborative space, and you are the expert on your own life. I approach our work with curiosity, compassion, and without judgment. I’ll take time to understand your experiences, culture, relationships, and the different parts of your life that may be shaping what you’re going through. Depending on your needs and goals, we may use approaches such as CBT, DBT, EMDR, motivational interviewing, and somatic practices. As a certified yoga and meditation teacher, I may also incorporate mindfulness and body-based practices when they feel supportive and appropriate for you. You don’t have to come to therapy with everything figured out. We can start wherever you are, move at a pace that feels manageable, and work together to develop tools that support greater self-understanding, connection, and agency.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first few sessions are an opportunity for us to get to know each other, understand what brings you to therapy, and identify your goals for our work together. I’ll ask questions about your current concerns, relationships, history, culture, and other aspects of your life that may help us understand the bigger picture. When appropriate, I’ll also discuss diagnostic considerations with you and use them as one part of understanding your experiences rather than defining who you are. Throughout our work, we’ll regularly check in about your progress and adjust our approach together.
