UpLift Behavioral Health providers do not issue prescriptions for substances controlled by any federal or state agency or other drugs that may be harmful because of their potential for abuse. UpLift Behavioral Health reserves the right to limit the types of medications that may be prescribed by its doctors and nurse practitioners. All prescriptions furnished by UpLift Behavioral Health care providers are issued in accordance with applicable federal and state law as well as UpLift Behavioral Health policy. Vulnerability is often viewed as weakness, and because of this mindset, many of us spend our lives shielding ourselves from leaning into any one emotion too intently. My goal with the individuals I work with is to help them embrace vulnerability as an opportunity to build resiliency. Together, we combine our knowledge and skills to create meaningful change. I strive to create a safe, confidential, and nonjudgmental environment. I have a direct but empathic approach to developing a therapeutic relationship, and if nothing else, I want individuals to walk away feeling seen and heard. “Oh yes, the past can hurt. But you can either run from it, or learn from it.” — Rafiki, The Lion King. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and a Bachelor’s degree from Frostburg State University.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The capacity to feel vulnerable is shared by all human beings. Vulnerability is often viewed as weakness and because of this mindset many of us spend our lives shielding ourselves from leaning into any one emotion too intently. From that fear and discomfort we begin to invalidate many aspects of our lives, especially our feelings. My goal with the individuals I work with is to help them embrace the opportunity to view vulnerability as an opportunity to build resiliency. Also, to empower individuals to build upon the knowledge and skills that they already possess. I strive in each session to create a safe, confidential, and non judgmental environment. I approach therapy as a joint venture where our knowledge and skills are combined to create solutions. I have a direct but empathic approach to developing a therapeutic relationship and if nothing else I would like individuals to walk away feeling seen and heard. “Oh yes, the past can hurt. But you can either run from it, or learn from it.”- Rafiki, Lion King

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I have a direct approach. As a therapist, I believe building rapport is helpful, however addressing the reason the client came to therapy helps a client feel seen and heard.
