As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, I've honed my expertise over 40+ years across public, private, and governmental sectors. I hold a BA in Psychology and MA in Counseling from the University of Maryland, a Master of Divinity from Virginia Union University, and a PhD in Counseling from Cornell University. My approach merges psychoanalytic/psychodynamic, humanistic, cognitive, and behavioral strategies, addressing issues like anxiety, depression, behavioral and relational issues, and life transitions.
Recognizing that therapy is never a one-size-fits-all process, each treatment plan is tailored to suit my client's unique needs. Trust-building and a secure environment are prime constituents of each session, fostering open dialogue and aiding growth. The aim? Heightened self-awareness, self-acceptance, and the identification of both recognized and emerging strengths.
Assignments between sessions support continuous growth and identify focal points for subsequent sessions. Introspection and progress are gently challenged, within supportive, accepting grounds. Open communication isn't just encouraged, it's vital for a positive experience.
Outside of therapy, I'm an avid fisherman, sports enthusiast, family man, and active community volunteer. Balance is key in life, and I encourage my clients to find their own equilibrium.
