Getting to know Hanna Abaata

Life brings moments that challenge us, shape us, and sometimes leave lasting impressions that can feel difficult to carry alone. As a trauma-informed therapist with a Master’s in Social Work from Andrews University and a Bachelor’s degree from Washington State University, I provide a supportive space for adolescents, teens, and young adults to explore what they’re feeling and discover new ways to heal, grow, and move forward. My practice integrates behavioral approaches, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Lifespan Integration, and parts work (Internal Family Systems). These gentle, evidence-informed methods help clients reprocess painful experiences and connect with parts of themselves that may feel stuck or unseen. Whether someone is navigating anxiety, ADHD, past trauma, or the emotional complexities of growing up, my role is to walk alongside them—helping them uncover patterns, strengthen their resilience, and feel more integrated and grounded. My path to becoming a therapist was shaped by my own experiences and curiosity about what helps people heal. I’ve always been someone who naturally looks for the strengths in others and believes in their ability to overcome challenges. This perspective continues to inform how I show up in the therapy room—with empathy, active listening, and encouragement, balanced with humor when it fits. I specialize in supporting: Adolescents and teens navigating identity, relationships, and life transitions Young adults working through anxiety, trauma, and lingering effects of childhood experiences Clients with ADHD who are learning how to manage life in a way that works for them Whether you or your child are seeking support for emotional wounds, ongoing stress, or simply need someone to talk to, I offer therapy that centers your experiences and honors your pace.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy can be a big step, especially when you're unsure of what to expect. My goal is to make the process feel approachable and centered around your needs from the very beginning. In our first session, I’ll invite you to share whatever feels most important—there’s no pressure to have everything figured out. I’ll ask a few gentle questions to help us understand your goals and get a sense of what support might look like. My approach is collaborative and nonjudgmental, and I truly value the unique perspectives each person brings into the room. Clients often say they appreciate how I listen with curiosity, use humor when it helps, and create space for them to be fully themselves. You won’t be expected to rush into anything or talk about things before you’re ready. Whether you're seeking support for yourself or your child, I’ll meet you where you are—and together, we’ll move forward in a way that feels meaningful and manageable. I look forward to getting to know you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?
