Helene Garrovillo, LCSW

Psychotherapist
VA
I received my Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California. I have specialized training in Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and I integrate these approaches to meet the unique needs of each client. I have worked as a psychotherapist in community mental health and substance use treatment and collaborated with holistic wellness professionals to facilitate regional and international retreats. Outside of my work as a therapist, I enjoy playing the ukulele, exploring creativity in the kitchen, finding peace in nature, and reflecting on scientific and spiritual perspectives that inspire my understanding of life and human consciousness. I meet with clients online and strive to create an atmosphere of trust, compassion, and care. In this shared space, we work together to navigate challenges, strengthen inner resources, and move toward healing and growth in ways that feel meaningful to you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is holistic, strengths-based, and culturally responsive, honoring your unique story, background, values, and lived experiences. I help clients reflect on the stories and patterns they carry while identifying the strengths and inner resources they can draw upon, which can open the door to greater understanding and growth. Recognizing the deep connection between mind, body, and spirit in the healing process, we will focus on what matters most to you, set meaningful goals, and explore practical tools for lasting change. Above all, my intention is to provide a compassionate, welcoming space where you feel safe, understood, respected, and empowered to move toward greater meaning, resilience, and fulfillment.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In your first session, you can expect a compassionate and welcoming space where you are invited to share your story at your own pace. We will discuss what brings you to therapy, explore your current challenges, needs, strengths, and inner resources, and begin identifying meaningful goals for our work together. I take a holistic, strengths-based, and culturally responsive approach that honors your lived experiences while helping you feel safe, heard, understood, and supported as we begin building a therapeutic relationship and working toward healing.
