“I would and am seeing her again. I think she showed great patience, through out.. At first I, rather, burst w pent up things, she let me and stayed w me and steered me back to some good questions that she had for me. A great listener and seemed to easily understand. Clearly a seasoned therapist. Asked me to really give some thought to maybe 4 things I mentioned in my hx. 1) My health incidents, within a 4 year time span. 2) Then, my husbands sickness, b4, during and after his transplant. So, dealing w this long sickness, his betrayal and different stages of alcoholism, which also o) B4 and after transplant. To give deep thought regarding myself and the loss of my work and then pain & the mourning of a career I loved. Lastly, she told me I was very brave 2) reach out, let alone share. I really worked at, repeating this over & over as it is an opportunity (once in my mind) & to allow myself 2 feel alive, proud. Letting that positive compliment seep into my abyss within. Awesome ”

Getting to know Hiyaguha Cohen

Hiyaguha Cohen, MA, LPCA, NCC, Clinical Mental Health Counselor PhD in Human Development and Professional Coaching I’m a licensed psychotherapist based in Bluffton, South Carolina, seeing clients statewide via telehealth. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands and a PhD in Human Development and Professional Coaching from the International University of Professional Studies. I work with depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship problems. I’m also a private practice life coach serving clients nationwide online. As both a therapist and life coach, I prioritize creating an atmosphere where you feel seen, heard, and safe, promoting growth and positive change. I look forward to helping you address challenges and become the healthiest version of yourself. My rates are $105/hour, with a sliding scale for limited income. Self-pay and out-of-network insurance only. Treatment Approach I often use EMDR or Accelerated Resolution Therapy, two methods that help to resolve issues faster than talk therapy by addressing root causes and healing long-standing problems. These are extraordinary methods that continue to amaze me with their ability to resolve trauma and transform lives. I also use CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) frequently, as it can expand your perspective and help you find solutions in seemingly hopeless situations. Depending on your needs, I might also incorporate nature-based or somatic therapies, biofeedback, Gestalt or visualization techniques, or psychodynamic approaches, then move toward a tailored action plan with tools to sustain growth. Research supports self-compassion and mindfulness in psychotherapy. Neuroscience shows individuals practicing these techniques are happier, more resilient, and better able to heal painful memories. I am dedicated to helping clients move past blocks to reach their full potential individually and in relationships.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You will never be judged in my practice. I know life is messy and challenging and that every single person needs help at some point in life. I'm also old enough to have seen a few miracles, and I know that what feels hopeless now will resolve, probably in a way you can't even imagine. I focus on what I know is possible for you, and keep that vision in sight even when you feel at a loss. I avoid diagnosing unless I must for you to receive insurance payments.
