Getting to know Jacquelyn Ravenden Feliciano

I’m Jacquelyn Feliciano, LCAT, a New York State Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and Registered Dance/Movement Therapist. I support children, teens, and adults who are navigating anxiety, stress, trauma history, low self-esteem, women’s issues, life transitions, and body image/eating concerns. My approach is warm, collaborative, and culturally responsive, with an LGBTQ+ and gender-affirming lens. I integrate psychodynamic therapy (understanding patterns and roots), mindfulness, and somatic/nervous-system regulation. When it feels helpful, we can also use creative arts tools (movement, imagery, writing, or visual art) to express and process emotions beyond words—no artistic experience needed. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, gain clarity about what’s been keeping you stuck, and build practical tools so you can move through life with more peace of mind and joy.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy with me is a space where you don’t have to “have it all figured out.” We’ll work at a pace that feels safe and respectful, and I’ll meet you with empathy while also helping you be honest with yourself about what needs to change. I’m active and engaged in sessions—offering reflection, guidance, and tools—while making sure you feel in control of your process. If you tend to overthink, people-please, feel disconnected from your body, or carry stress that shows up as tension, fatigue, or worry, we’ll address both the emotional roots and the day-to-day impact. You can expect a blend of insight and practical support: understanding patterns, building boundaries, improving self-talk, and strengthening coping skills. Creative arts interventions are always optional; we can stay with talk therapy if that’s your preference.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session, I’ll learn what brought you in, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you want to feel different. We’ll discuss your history, stressors, supports, and any past therapy experiences, then identify a few clear goals for treatment. From there, sessions usually include: checking in on current symptoms and stressors exploring underlying patterns (relationships, beliefs, past experiences) building skills for regulation and coping (mindfulness/somatic tools) practicing new ways of responding (boundaries, communication, self-compassion) We’ll regularly track progress and adjust goals as your needs change. My aim is for you to leave therapy with deeper self-understanding and tools you can use in real life.
