Getting to know Tekulve Jackson-Vann

Hello! I'm Tekulve (pronounced Tee-COLE-Vee) Flower de Jackson-Vann. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, with licenses to practice in Utah, Georgia, Nevada, Michigan, Colorado, Florida, Arizona, Oregon, and Idaho. I have been practicing independently since 2009 and under supervision from 2006-2009. I earned a BS in Marriage, Family, and Human Development with an emphasis in Family Life Education from Brigham Young University and an MS in Marriage and Family Therapy from Valdosta State University. I am a current Doctoral student at Arizona State University pursing a Doctor of Behavioral Health degree. I have extensive experience working with at-risk adolescents in residential treatment as well as adult in dual diagnosis residential program. I enjoy working with people of all ages addressing a wide variety of mental and emotional health issues. I am particularly interested in bridging the gap to access to quality mental health services for the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities. I joined the team at Tava in order to fulfill one of my greatest dreams--to be a stay-at-home dad. With a physical office in Orem, Utah and my home office, I am able to maintain a flexible schedule for seeing clients while also being able to be present for some of special moments with my husband and our newborn. I cherish the titles of Dad/Doddy to my kids and "Papa" to my grandchild because I'm way to cool to be called "Grandpa." When I'm not doing therapy, you will likely find me in the kitchen baking, bargain shopping, or sneaking a pack of Oreos while watching Law & Order or Murder, She Wrote.

Waited 20 mins and decided to exit my appointment. Never saw him nor did I get a follow up. Very disappointing that this is how it had to happen. It took me a long time to decide that I needed to get back into therapy. I was expecting to be greeted by a friendly and open professional. Instead I was discouraged and I don't feel like my time was respected. I'm sure he's a good therapist but I wouldn't know.
