Getting to know Jason Hill

When we become willing to openly discuss whatever is troubling us with an experienced and understanding professional, things change. You and I will determine what your goals are, what motivates you, and what is working well for you already. By focusing on solutions, we can improve mood, self-esteem, relationships, sleep, and more in a relatively short period of time.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York State, and have worked with a very diverse clientele over the past 15+ years. I take a client-centered and solution-focused approach, utilizing either a cognitive-behavioral or psychodynamic style (as appropriate). I am also trained in ACT, DBT, ERP, M.I., the Gottman Method, and CBT-I (evidence-based treatment specifically for insomnia).

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My clients want to improve mood, self-esteem, relationships, sleeping habits, etc., and come to realize that something happens within the client/therapist relationship that does not happen alone. I see my role as a Trusted Advisor - someone who asks the right questions at the right time, in order to raise awareness, insight, and motivation to change. My typical client shows improvement within a few months, and then eventually meets with me less frequently (for 'tune-ups'). And, my clients sometimes return to sessions with me after leaving therapy, if things begin to go awry.

I’ve been weekly and bi-weekly with Jason for 5+ months, recommended through my wife’s therapist (whom Jason was a superior in the past). I’ve found Jason very down-to-earth, which is helpful for a client unfamiliar and new to therapy. He provides thoughtful and productive insights that are not only relatable to your situation, but also through an academic lens, which shows his years of professional experience. When needed, Jason finds a balance for playing “devil's advocate” which can be initially rubbing, but ultimately very helpful in allowing you to think through your positions…and leads to better understanding. I can’t speak for all forms of needs, though Jason has been a positive influence as a touch-base for a wide range of factors I’ve consulted on—like substance, marital, and life-goals. Best to Jason and all seeking support and hope my review helps.
I often say it out loud but I genuinely really like my therapist. He holds me accountable to the best of his ability, isn't judgemental as I'm a pretty unconventional guy, calls me out where I need it and is just a solid guy to talk to. I will say he's exactly the type of therapist I needed for me and has helped me start to transition from an ex girlfriend, a job I hate, live more to my values, etc. I'm starting to see changes in myself even if it's not all at once. I highly recommend Jason if you want a good therapist and come with goals, I do not regret my choice.
Jason is phenomenal, he’s not just a therapist but a very trusted advisor and confidant who you’ll develop a strong friendship with. He is a very articulate and wise man who is a blessing to work with.
Jason is an open minded listener, someone who I trusted immediately, who challenged me, and gave me great advise. That's why I'll continue to look for his help.

After sifting through all the providers on ZocDoc I am so glad I made an appointment with Jason. He made me feel comfortable opening up very quickly and I was able to share a lot more than I expected on my first session and start digging into some things immediately. Jason really challenged me, which was exactly what I wanted and something that had been missing from previous therapists I have spoken to, who didn't uncover nearly the insight over months that I got in one session with Jason. He got me to think about certain things that hadn't occurred to me as relevant to my current mental health and left me with plenty to think about before my next session. I'm very much looking forward to continuing this process and I feel confident that I'll be able to see some real progress working with him. Highly recommended.

I was hesitant at first about finally seeking help, but I’m so glad (and humbled) to say that Dr. Hill has truly exceeded my expectations. Dr. Hill has done a wonderful job helping me significantly reduce my anxiety while simultaneously helping me understand myself much better. There’s many qualities of Dr. Hill’s that I could write home about, but perhaps the (two) most immediately apparent to me were his overall genuineness and his kind demeanor. I’ll forever be grateful to Dr. Hill for helping me get back on track in life. I have since returned to law school and—with the continued blessing of our weekly meetings—am daily fulfilling the truest (and best) version of myself.
I have been seeing Jason for a few months now - and my mood, and overall life, has significantly improved. Jason has been punctual, lively and attentive in every session. He connects the dots to make sense of reoccurring negative thought patterns, behaviors and relationships, and provides helpful advice and techniques to alleviate any negative affects. He takes the time to to put in the work post-session and offers additional support if needed. He truly cares about his patients and makes sense and light of a world that many people's minds can sometimes complicate or cast a dark shadow on. I am very grateful for Jason's help and I highly recommend anyone looking to make positive change in their life to speak with Jason.
Let me start by saying that I sought therapy for a past job work situation that I was having a hard time dealing with. The skills I have learned thus far in my sessions with Jason are just priceless! He got to the root causes of the problem in a very short time frame, and then worked with me on addressing each one, with "homework" given in between sessions. Strongly recommend Jason!
Jason is extremely professional and is a skilled therapist. Being new to therapy, Jason has made me feel comfortable every step of the way and has helped me tremendously to cope with daily life stresses. I would highly recommend Jason to anyone looking for a great therapist.
Jason Hill is a rare combination of kindness, tough love and humor. Often I’ve struggled to find a therapist that promotes self-love AND a message based in taking action on your own behalf. Jason is a refreshing balance of both. He has helped me through a serious hallway of darkness this past year. I am very grateful to have found him.
Jason is a fantastic therapist who is outstanding at listening and creating deep dialogues with so you can fully analyze any situation you are in with a critical mind. He is nonjudgmental, and has really helped me through some of my toughest moments in 2022. He's extremely responsive and I always look forward to our weekly sessions which when they conclude I always feel more relaxed and mindful. He has taught me how to properly meditate and challenges me to try new self care techniques that have stuck with me even outside of our sessions. I highly recommend Jason and look forward to continue working with him
I am so grateful that I found Jason. He has helped me tremendously to focus in on my particular anxietal thought patterns and behaviors - and work toward changing them with specific actions and steps. I have tried therapy in the past without any real results, but my experience with Jason has been wonderful. I feel like we are working together on my anxiety, and I'm taking real action in my life as a result. I cannot recommend him highly enough.
Jason has been a friend, a mentor, a cheerleader, a confidant. Someone I can share really personal things with, or even sit in silence with when I dont really know what to say. He handled my sadness and anger and now Im feeling so much happier and better!
I was never in therapy before and was nervous to start. Jason made it easy. He is a very caring professional and went at my pace. He helped me with my relationship and to cut down on smoking. He was sensitive even when things were hard for me. Hes a really good therapy.
Jason is the best. So knowledgable, so helpful. He listens and gives good advice. Always made me feel comfortable. Helped me undertand my past traumas and deal with my anxiety.
Jason has helped me with depression and anxiety and using better coping. He is sensitive and caring. He made me feel really understood and listened to. I really recommend him.
