Getting to know Jason Mancini

Growing up in the college town of Binghamton, NY, Jason found his calling early in life while taking a high school psychology course. He went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from the State University of New York at Oneonta before returning home to earn his Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton. ?I've always had a calm demeanor, and even as a teenager I would help people with their problems,? says Jason, who later applied his concern for young adults while working for Child Protective Services before entering grad school. He currently works as Clinical Supervisor at an Outpatient Mental Health Clinic, where he helps patients ranging in age from five to adulthood deal with an array of life's challenges, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and behavioral disorders. A firm believer that developing a trusting therapeutic relationship is essential to patient success, Jason emphasizes the importance of creating a calm, warming environment, explaining, ?I believe therapy should be a rewarding and enjoyable experience.? Jason sees many advantages to working with patients online. ?With adults, I've been surprised at how much can be achieved through virtual visits. You get to see into people's personal lives, their home environment, and overall living situations. That's very helpful.? In his free time, he enjoys lifting weights, spending time with his wife and their Lhasa Apso, and winter getaways to Florida.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am a very down to earth clinician who is a good listener and easy to talk to. I strongly believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship and will work collaboratively with you to explore your current concerns and goals for treatment. My therapeutic style is strength-based and person-centered. I enjoy utilizing concepts based in CBT, DBT, and Psychodynamic theory and look forward to the possibility of working with you!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I use our first one to two sessions which last 50-60 minutes to really understand your history, current concerns, and goals for treatment. I also utilize this time to understand your symptoms and to make an accurate diagnosis. Therapy sessions to follow will focus on developing skills to reach your goals as well as attending to any issues that may arise between sessions that you would like to process or work on. I feel that sessions can be both structured and flexible and I aim to make your experience as rewarding and insightful as possible.

Jason was excellent! My only problem was a technical one that involved video. However, the office responded immediately and I had the opportunity to meet with Jason. The meeting was very good. I was glad I had the opportunity to meet with him. He was very helpful . We setup up another meeting for the month of November. Pablo Sierra
