Getting to know Jeffrey Green
Hi! My name is Cillian Green (he-him). As a therapist, it is important to me to work with my clients to understand the present day through the lens of past experiences, including significant relationships and our families of origin. The stories we tell ourselves about the past can have such an impact on our present! My sessions are characterized by humility, curiosity, and humor.
My clients come from a variety of backgrounds and use their therapy time to work through challenges related to stress, anxiety, depression, identity, sexuality, and executive functioning.
I have expertise and experience working with both religious/spiritual as well as non-religious and non-spiritual clients. I hold a Master’s in Counseling from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and a Master’s in Divinity from North Park Theological Seminary.
I believe that our spirits and hearts are remarkably resilient, and that you have made it this far in your life weathering storms and coming out the other side. You have strength and resilience inside yourself, and I would like to join you in your life’s journey, wherever it may lead.
I am trained in evidence-based CBT skills for managing symptoms of ADHD in adults.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I help clients learn more about themselves and learn tools that help. I have special training in the areas of spirituality and religion through my MDiv degree, but I work with clients both spiritual and not. I take a progressive, non-sectarian approach to helping people align their identities. I have a special perspective as a multiracial, LGBTQ+ provider.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
As a psychotherapist, I use multiple approaches to help my clients reach their goals. For certain challenges, such as ADHD, I use evidence-based CBT approaches to help clients learn new skills and better manage symptoms. For many other goals, I utilize psychodynamic therapy, which is an approach that allow us to examine the way that experiences from the past, such as childhood or family relationships, can affect they way we interact with others and experience our lives in the present. By understanding old patterns and where they came from, we become free to find new patterns of interacting that get us to where we'd like to go in life.
