Getting to know Jeika Matthew

I approach therapy with the understanding that people are complex. Our identities, experiences, and relationships intersect in ways that shape how we navigate stress, purpose, and personal growth. My goal is to create a space where those complexities can be explored openly and with curiosity, honesty, and respect. One of the strengths I bring to therapy is a strong ability to recognize patterns within individuals and relationships. Many clients come to me feeling stuck in dynamics they cannot quite explain. I help clients identify underlying themes and connections that may be keeping them stuck and work together to develop greater clarity and meaningful change. I also work particularly well with neurodivergent clients and have a deep appreciation for the creativity, complexity, and challenges that can come with neurodivergent thinking. I work with adolescents and adults in individual therapy, as well as couples navigating relationship challenges, communication difficulties, and complex emotional dynamics. With couples, I focus on helping partners understand the patterns shaping their relationship so they can move from cycles of frustration toward deeper understanding and connection. I hold a Master of Arts in Mental Health and Wellness Counseling from New York University. My work is grounded in evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches that support insight, emotional growth, and lasting change.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients often tell me they appreciate having a therapist who is able to notice patterns and connections that may not be immediately obvious. My approach is collaborative and thoughtful. I take the time to understand your experiences, values, and goals so that the work we do together feels meaningful and relevant to your life. Therapy with me focuses on helping you better understand the patterns shaping your experiences while developing practical ways to move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first sessions focus on understanding what brings you to therapy and identifying the areas of life you would like to work on. From there, we begin exploring the patterns, experiences, and relational dynamics that may be contributing to current challenges. As therapy progresses, we focus on building insight while also developing practical strategies that support emotional regulation, healthier relationships, and long-term personal growth.
