Getting to know Jennifer Evans

Jennifer Evans, LPC, LMHC, is a board-certified therapist licensed in multiple states with over 15 years of counseling experience. She helps clients understand the connection between the brain, body, and lived experience so they can move out of survival patterns and into lasting change. Using a unique neuroscience-backed framework, Jennifer supports individuals in building awareness, releasing shame, and creating healthier patterns in their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Her work is rooted in the belief that healing is not about judgment — it is about understanding, regulation, and learning how to respond to yourself with greater clarity and compassion. She knows both personally and professionally how difficult it can be to arrive at this step, and she deeply values the courage it takes to begin. As a military spouse, Jennifer experienced many relocations and rebuilt her career at each duty station. Through those experiences, she developed both a wide range of clinical expertise and a deep personal understanding of how hard it can be to start over, feel ungrounded, or find your place in the middle of uncertainty. She is especially passionate about helping clients process trauma and life experiences that leave them feeling fearful, unsafe, stuck, or emotionally exhausted — even when there is not always a clear explanation. Jennifer’s approach is person-centered, with cognitive behavioral foundations and psychoeducation woven throughout the process. She works collaboratively with clients to increase self-understanding, strengthen resilience, and develop practical tools for managing overwhelming feelings, changing unhealthy patterns, and improving future relationships and outcomes. Her specialties include career counseling, stress and anxiety, trauma and abuse, self-esteem, depression, and life transitions.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me is about more than talking through problems—it is about learning to understand yourself in a deeper, more compassionate way so lasting change becomes possible. My approach is rooted in a neurohumanity framework, which means we look at the connection between your brain, body, thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and lived experiences. Many of the patterns that leave us feeling stuck, overwhelmed, fearful, disconnected, or exhausted are not personal failures. They are often protective adaptations shaped by stress, trauma, and life experience. When we begin to understand those patterns without shame or judgment, we create the foundation for healing. In our work together, I will help you build awareness, make sense of what is happening internally, and develop healthier ways of responding to yourself, your relationships, and your life. My style is compassionate, direct, educational, and action-oriented. I want clients to leave sessions not only feeling seen, but also with a clearer understanding of why they feel the way they do and what they can do next. This is a space where you do not have to perform, have it all figured out, or be in the “right” place before you begin. You simply have to be willing to show up. From there, we work together to build clarity, regulation, resilience, and meaningful forward movement.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process is rooted in awareness, acceptance, and action. We begin by understanding what your mind, body, and behaviors have been carrying—without judgment. Together, we identify the patterns, beliefs, emotional responses, and nervous system adaptations that may be shaping your current experience. As we build insight, we also build capacity: the ability to regulate, respond differently, and move forward with greater intention. My work is collaborative, neuroscience-backed, and person-centered, helping clients release shame, strengthen resilience, and create lasting change from a place of clarity and self-understanding.

Ongoing session: $175 for 55 minutes
  • Sliding scale: Offers lower out-of-pocket fees on an individual basis, typically based on your ability to pay
  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork

TLDR: Jennifer might work great for you but she did not work out for my situation. Positives: So Jennifer was definitely insightful and very quick to figure out things that were unspoken. The meetings happened on time and no problems reaching during non-session hours. Negatives: Within the first few moments of the first session I felt unable to explain why I was there without assumptions or judgement. It didn't feel like a safe space. There was poor communication about appointments and their nature. There was a strong feeling that Jennifer wasn't really listening to the issues and how the issues were impactful but only wanting to engage in her idea of fixing them. There was too much disrespect to feel comfortable in sessions.

I cannot recommend Jennifer enough. My husband and I have been seeing her for nearly two years and she has provided counseling and guidance that helped us through a difficult time and to grow closer together. In addition to her couples expertise, she also is fantastic with personal guidance- better managing the stresses of work and how to overcome obstacles while I complete my degree. I look forward to meeting with her every week because I know I'll feel better able to tackle the week afterwards.
I have been seeing Jennifer Evans for private therapy for about 18 months. I clicked with her and the way she described things helps me. I look forward to unpacking the week with her and focusing on improvements. I get a lot out of our sessions.
Jennifer always listens intently and has been an integral piece in helping me figure out my triggers, patterns, and anxieties. She has made me feel less alone and I am so glad I started therapy when I did.
Jennifer has been amazing to work with! She was be so kind as to work with my schedule and needs. Leaving each session I feel as though I actually have achievable goals to work on each week. She is very communicative and timely! I would definitely recommend trying out a session or 2 with her!
Jennifer is the most wonderful counselor I have ever had. In the short time I have worked with her she has helped me in ways none of my past counselors have. I feel so comfortable taking with her and her approach to provide me with meaningful solutions and feedback is amazing. My issue stems from childhood trauma that I have carried with myself all of my adult life. It has caused me all kinds of issues. She is actually helping me with this and I honestly thought that was impossible. I am so thankful for all she has done for me.
From the beginning, I was made to feel comfortable and found Ms. Evans to be easy to talk with. Ms. Evans is insightful and draws from a great wealth of knowledge in her field to give practical, useful advice. Sessions are oriented for real world problems and I’ve been able to see a difference in my day to day life. I would highly recommend Ms. Evans!
