I enjoy working with people who are adjusting to a new life, including teenagers, young adults and older adults. Transitions can be extremely difficult leading to trouble making decisions, worry, depression, and substance abuse. It can be difficult to function well or thrive while adjusting to life right outside of college or adapting to retirement life after a full-time career of many years. Finding your way can be an exciting journey yet also bring about anxiety you may have never experienced before. A holistic approach is important in helping clients manage their daily stressors, anxiety, and depressive symptoms. I use CBT, REBT, and a solution-focused approach to promote self-acceptance. I also help individuals who suffer with substance abuse and addictions via motivational interviewing. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The University of Texas in 2008. After gaining experience with the development of young children through teaching, I pursued my Master of Science in Counseling from The University of North Texas and completed my practicum in 2013. My background consists of interning at a juvenile detention center, helping patients admit into a dual-diagnosis residential treatment center, working with teenagers and adults in a community mental health center, and private practice. I would love to work with you in a collaborative therapeutic relationship to help you reduce negative symptoms and reach your goals.
