“From our first intro session with Jeremy we could tell he was really passionate about working with couples. He provided a fantastic unbiased and supportive third-party to work through some conflict and growing pains - nearly a decade into our relationship. We never felt judgement or that anything we were working through was beyond repair. He is clearly there to help you, no matter what you ultimately are looking for in your relationship. We would recommend him to anyone needing that support. ”

Getting to know Jeremy Johnson

Do you wonder where your confidence went? Or why you can’t sleep? Maybe drink too much, gamble too much? Do you feel down or angry all the time, blowing up at people? I specialize in helping men who feel overwhelmed by emotions they don’t understand and want help knowing what to do with them. I have extensive experience helping guys who outwardly "have it all together" but privately feel overwhelmed, stuck, lost, or out of control. The issues I treat include anger, anxiety, depression, jealousy, body image, addictive behaviors, and negative relationship with the self. Many of my patients struggle to be themselves, long for close connection, or just want to stop fighting. Whether you’re trying to cope with a hard moment or want to understand yourself better, I can help you explore what you’re feeling and how you got here, so you can discover new ways of being with yourself. For adults and couples, I offer in-person sessions at my office in downtown Brooklyn. Please feel free to reach out if you would like to schedule a free 30-minute consultation.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In a safe and welcoming space, we can work to begin your healing and growth. My approach includes looking at your past experiences to understand how they impact your life now. I'll invite you to slow down, notice what's going on in the moment, and use that mindfulness to get underneath the old story you've gotten used to - it might not be serving you any more! In all cases, I work to build a collaborative space where you will feel relaxed and safe.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

You don't have to prepare anything, unless you want to. We'll start by exploring what's bringing you to therapy, and what you hope to change. As work continues, you decide what areas you want to focus on. I’ll be there to help you build insight around your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and the meanings and narratives built around them. Over time, we'll identify skills you can use to transcend old ways of being, and address challenges in a new way.

What is my deductible? Has any of it been met yet? What is my coinsurance? (This will be the percentage that your insurance company will pay after you meet your deductible.)

My partner and I have been seeing Jeremy for about a year. We walk away every time and turn to each other to say, "That was a great session." Jeremy is thoughtful and pushes us to reflect inwards and towards our relationship more. We use the tools and sayings he gives us in our every day lives as well. I'd highly recommend him as a therapist or couples therapist!
Jeremy Johnson has been an exceptional couples therapist for us. He is thoughtful, grounded, and deeply perceptive. He creates a space that feels safe and nonjudgmental while still gently pushing us to be honest and accountable. Jeremy has a rare ability to translate complex emotional dynamics into insights that actually make sense and lead to real change. We’ve grown not just in how we communicate, but in how we understand ourselves and each other. I would highly recommend Jeremy to any couple looking for a therapist who is both compassionate and highly effective.

Jeremy is extremely attentive and responsive, and really cares for the individual needs of those coming to see him. I find him to be an awesome listener and I'm impressed at his ability to recall details from past visits. Jeremy takes everything I say seriously and I feel extremely comfortable trusting him with the things I struggle with the most. A fantastic therapist, and I look forward to continuing to work with him.

Jeremy is incredibly professional, with a wonderful manner, and a willingness to begin a dialogue about whatever you're willing to bring up in session. Very easy to engage with, which makes therapy easy to become a regular occurrence. Happy to have Jeremy in my corner!

Jeremy is fantastic - he’s helped me work through some difficult challenges and is a great listener while offering terrific expert insight that is helpful and even challenges me when needed. Definitely highly recommend.
I’m so grateful to have found Jeremy. I was anxious about starting therapy, but I feel really comfortable talking with him. He has a way of connecting threads from my different sessions and helping me realize some broader themes about myself. I don’t really know how to “do therapy” but Jeremy has been a compassionate and gentle guide as I make my way through.
Jeremy is great. There is technically no wait time with him and he is very professional but at the same time wonderful on creating a calm and therapeutic environment. Every-time we have a session my anxiety levels go down. I would recommend seeing Jeremy he is awesome.
Jeremy is fantastic! He is incredibly insightful, kind, and supportive. Jeremy actively listens and genuinely cares about you as a person and about what you have to say. I cannot say enough nice things about Jeremy and highly recommend him!
The visits were done online. However that never took away from the experience. Each session was a new chance to digest something that I had lingered on before. Everything was placed in a spot to help better understand the timeline of events and keep everything simple and clean. The effort shown was methodical and practical.
