What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with Jessica starts with being heard. In your first session, expect an open, unhurried conversation where the focus is on understanding your story, not filling out a checklist. Jessica creates space for you to talk through what is actually going on, whether that is a major life transition, a disconnect from your cultural identity, or stress that has built up over time. From there, sessions become a collaborative process. Jessica draws from Person-Centered Therapy, CBT, and Internal Family Systems, which means you can expect both genuine, human conversation and practical tools you can actually use between sessions. She will not hand you a rigid script to follow. Instead, the approach adapts to what you need in a given week, whether that is processing something difficult, working through a specific pattern, or building skills to manage stress as it comes up. Jessica moves at your pace, checks in on what is working and what is not, and treats you as the expert on your own life while bringing her clinical training to help you get unstuck. If cultural identity or bicultural experience is part of what brings you to therapy, that context does not need to be explained from scratch. It is part of how she works. Sessions are available in person in Greenpoint, Brooklyn or online across New York State, so you can choose whichever fits your schedule and comfort level best.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical session with Jessica starts with checking in on how the week went and what feels most pressing to talk through that day. From there, sessions are conversational rather than following a fixed script. Every client is different, and so are their needs, so Jessica adapts session to session, pulling from Person-Centered Therapy, CBT, and Internal Family Systems to meet each client where they are. Early sessions tend to focus on building a clear picture of what brought the patient to therapy and what they are hoping will feel different. As the relationship develops, sessions may shift toward practicing new skills, processing a specific event or relationship, or working through cultural identity and belonging. Jessica is also continuing her education in Somatic Therapy, so patients may notice occasional attention to how stress shows up in the body, worked in wherever it fits naturally alongside the verbal, talk based work that makes up most sessions. Patients are never left without direction after a session. Jessica often closes by naming a concrete takeaway or something to notice before the next appointment, so the work continues between visits, not just during them. Sessions are available in person in Greenpoint, Brooklyn or online across New York State, in English, Mandarin, or Cantonese.
