Getting to know Johana Basurto

One of my greatest professional values is creating a positive, supportive, and meaningful therapeutic experience for every client. Whether you are seeking therapy for the first time or returning to continue your personal growth, I want you to feel welcomed, respected, understood, and supported throughout the process. I believe therapy is not just about addressing challenges, but also about recognizing your strengths, understanding yourself more deeply, and developing the tools needed to navigate life with greater confidence and resilience. My goal is to create a safe and nonjudgmental space where you can be open and authentic while working toward the changes that are most meaningful to you. It is a privilege to be part of each client’s journey, and I approach that responsibility with compassion, curiosity, and genuine care. Together, we can work to build healthy coping strategies, strengthen self-awareness, navigate life’s challenges, and create meaningful, lasting growth that supports your overall well-being.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am committed to creating a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where children, adolescents, and adults can feel safe, comfortable, and empowered to be themselves. I understand that reaching out for therapy can feel like a significant step, and my goal is to make that process feel approachable and supportive from the very beginning. Every client brings a unique story, perspective, and set of experiences to therapy. I believe everyone deserves to feel heard, respected, and understood without fear of judgment. I take the time to listen and understand each individual’s needs, strengths, and goals so that therapy can be personalized to what is most meaningful and helpful for them. My approach is centered on walking alongside clients rather than simply telling them what to do. Together, we can explore challenges, better understand patterns and emotions, develop healthy coping strategies, and build on the strengths you already have. I aim to help clients develop greater self-awareness, confidence, and resilience while creating practical tools they can use in their everyday lives. Whether you are navigating a difficult transition, managing emotional challenges, working through relationship or family concerns, or simply looking for support and personal growth, I am here to meet you where you are. My hope is that therapy becomes a space where you feel genuinely supported while taking meaningful steps toward lasting, positive change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I am a therapist who believes that meaningful healing begins with connection, compassion, and collaboration. I view therapy as a partnership where you do not have to navigate challenges alone. My role is to listen, understand, and walk alongside you as we explore your experiences, identify what is most important to you, and work toward meaningful change. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel comfortable being yourself and openly discussing the thoughts, emotions, and experiences that may be impacting your life. I recognize that beginning therapy can feel vulnerable, and I believe building trust and a strong therapeutic relationship is an important part of the process. Together, we will identify your goals and strengths while developing practical tools and coping strategies that fit your individual needs. Whether you are working through a difficult life transition, managing stress or emotional challenges, navigating relationships, or seeking greater self-understanding, I am committed to helping you feel supported, empowered, and confident as you move toward growth and healing.
