“I am so happy that I chose Mindful Path Therapy and Judy's approach has helped me so much. She has been able to gently guide me through some very toubled times, and show me that I have choices and options about how I see things. Her emphasis on mindfulness led me to explore a meditation practice, and her humor and empathy heped me laugh at times when I didn't think I could. I highly recommend Judy Lucas and the Mindful Path Therapy Practice as a whole. ”

Getting to know Judith Lucas Lahlum

Making the decision to begin therapy can feel like a major undertaking. Perhaps you've been trying to manage things on your own and have found yourself stressed, overwhelmed, or just plain stuck. It might be anxiety that's been keeping you on edge, or maybe depression or grief has taken hold of you. Perhaps it's the loss of a relationship or challenges within your current one that brought you here. You might even be wondering if you need some help managing substance use or navigating life after quitting. Or you may simply want support in finding more balance in your life. In therapy, you'll learn ways to stay more present, rather than living in the future where anxiety thrives or being stuck in the past where guilt, regret, and depression often reside. You'll discover strategies that help you move forward according to your own defined values. I hold a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Argosy University, Schaumburg, and a Bachelor's degree from Loyola University Chicago. My training and experience equip me to support you in finding the tools and insights you need to create meaningful change.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I'll provide you a helping hand in a warm, low-key, compassionate and non-judgmental manner, so you can get closer to the place you ultimately want to get to in your life. You'll learn strategies to manage anxiety, and depression and coping skills that you can use when under stress.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I am a licensed clinical therapist (LCPC) and I'm also certified as a drug and alcohol counselor (CADC). I will offer you a helping hand in a warm, low-key, compassionate and non-judgmental manner. I incorporate cognitive therapies including CBT and ACT.

Working with Judy Lucas is a pleasure! As a person who has struggled with addiction for 30+ years, her mindful approach to addiction was refreshing and a rewarding experience, juxtaposed to the cookie cutter treatment I experienced in the past. It is going on 3 years and she has and continues to be instrumental in my recovery. Very thankful to have connected with her.
I’ve been using Judy for over six months, and I’ve never been happier with my therapist. She’s professional and sharp, uses excellent clinical judgment, and has a great personality and sense of humor. She has a solid background in substance abuse and has been extremely helpful in opening my eyes to my issues with alcohol and has provided me with many options on how to change. I’ve learned about boundary setting and many other skills that have helped me through family, work, and relationship problems. I would highly recommend Judy.
