Getting to know Juliana Cousins

Whether you’re struggling with anxious thoughts, sadness, past trauma, or just need someone to listen, I aim to empower and challenge individuals to help improve their quality of life. As a therapist, I help my clients recognize their own potential by walking alongside them; guiding them through their unique journey while implementing tools along the way to deal with life’s stressors. I earned my Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling and my Bachelor’s in Psychology with a double minor in Sociology and Counseling at the University at Buffalo. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults who have struggled with depression, anxiety, self-harm, trauma, relationship challenges, self-identity, sexuality, self-esteem, and motivation. My treatment style is centered around Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Gestalt Therapy. I prioritize providing a safe, trusting, and anti-oppressive environment. As a team, we will think outside of the box, create practical goals, and make effective life changes. I provide care with the mindset that no two clients are alike. Therefore, I strive to take risks and discover what type of treatment best suits you and only you.
