Psychotherapist

"Hello, I'm Karen, a licensed clinical social worker in the State of Virginia with over 25 years of experience. My journey in mental health has equipped me with the expertise to support individuals through some of the most challenging times in their lives. I specialize in working with trauma survivors, including those who have experienced combat or interpersonal trauma, and individuals recovering from suicide attempts. My therapeutic approach is rooted in cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused therapies, which I believe are powerful tools for fostering resilience and healing. I earned my bachelor's degree in 1996 and my master's degree in 1998, both in Clinical Social Work from the University of Maine in Orono. My professional path has taken me through community mental health in Washington, DC, school social work, adoption services, personal therapy, and 16 years as a federal government social worker. Growing up in Northern Maine and Rowena, New Brunswick, Canada, and being a trauma survivor myself, I bring both personal and professional insights to my practice, allowing me to connect authentically with my clients. In addition to my individual practice, I co-founded a company with my daughters to create a broader impact for trauma survivors globally. Together, we design journals, edit blog posts, and manage photography and social media to support our mission. Our practice focuses on helping career women over 40 recover from histories of child abuse and trauma. We offer courses, workshops, masterminds, coaching/support groups, and summits. Outside of my professional life, I cherish spending time with my spouse Tony and our three children, Lena, Grace, and Gideon. I enjoy reading and personal development, always striving to grow both personally and professionally. If you're looking for a compassionate and experienced therapist to support you on your journey to healing, I invite you to reach out.
