She was very understanding of my issues, listened to what I had to say with no judgement, and validated my feelings. I felt very comfortable speaking to her and felt that she really wanted to help me find ways to cope with my problems! Getting to know Katherine Grudens

Katie Grudens, MA, MHC-LP, is a master's level therapist and a valued member of the clinical team at Dr. Fallon's Practice. She is a New York State Mental Health Counselor (Limited Permit) who earned her Master's in Mental Health Counseling from New York University. Katie also holds a Bachelor's degree from Ithaca College.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Katie takes an integrative approach with all clients because she strongly believes that there is no "one size fits all" method of therapy. Instead, Katie likes to get to know each client and build a strong relationship with them to best inform her therapeutic approach. Typically, Katie pulls tools and techniques from various therapeutic modalities including internal family systems, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, strengths-based and client-centered approaches, while maintaining an empathetic, validating, and nonjudgmental stance. Katie believes therapy should be collaborative in nature and she is very flexible on the structure of care for each client, depending on what works for them.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Katie prioritizes meeting her clients where they are and she views them from a holistic perspective that sees them as whole human beings, and not just their symptoms or presenting concerns. Katie is experienced in helping clients who present with anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, family conflict, trauma, grief, behavioral addictions, life transitions, self-esteem issues, identity issues, and LGBTQIA+ issues. Katie's message to anyone who is interested in therapy: YOU DESERVE IT and I am so incredibly proud of you for putting yourself first! I look forward to learning how I can help you create the changes you hope to experience.
