Getting to know Leslie Sommer

Do you struggle with anxiety? Is your anxiety related to romantic relationships, friendships, family dynamics, parenting, academic performance, social situations, past trauma, career satisfaction, or low self-esteem? What about issues with time management, boredom, goal-setting, organization, socializing, fleeting motivation, poor focus, and mood swings? Could it be a hidden ADHD diagnosis? I can help. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Bachelor's and Master's in Social Work from Indiana University Bloomington. I provide remote psychotherapy to teens 12+, young adults, couples, and parents who struggle with anxiety and symptoms of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

What should a new client know about working with you?

I offer a safe and supportive virtual therapy environment for my clients to learn about anxiety, parenting, relationships and ADHD. I teach coping skills, emotional awareness, emotional regulation, assertiveness, time and priority management, values identification, and communication skills. Additionally, I provide counseling for parents to learn how to best support their children.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I have many years of personal and professional experience working with and through anxiety and ADHD. My goal is to help you tackle the tough job of balancing the fine-line between helpful and unhelpful anxiety and to learn the skills needed to tackle problematic symptoms of ADHD for you or your child.
