Getting to know Kathryn Strickland

***SATURDAY APPOINTMENTS NOW AVAILABLE*** Hello and welcome! As we all can relate, sometimes the most difficult part of change is the START! My name is Katy, and I am an LGBTQAI+ affirming counselor who enjoys mixing music therapy with evidence-based therapeutic approaches to create a non-judgmental safe space to support you in reaching your goals. I specialize in working with pre-teens/teens (age 12-18), adults, families, and relationships (all relationship styles are safe and welcome! Traditional monogamy, ethical non-monogamy, polyamory, LGBTQAI+, etc.). I have experience working with those battling substance use disorders/relapse prevention, teens/adults/families who have had interactions with the legal system or are “at risk,” trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, self-concept, and more. I graduated with my Master's Degree in Counseling from Troy University (Florida Panhandle Campuses) in 2007 and became licensed in Florida in 2009. I also hold Bachelor's Degrees in Music Therapy and Psychology from Ohio University in Athens, OH, earned in 2002. I have worked in a forensic psychiatric hospital, Department of Juvenile Justice residential treatment centers, prisons, jails, public schools, and community outpatient clinics. Originally from Ohio, I lived and practiced in Georgia from 2014-2021 and have recently relocated to the Central Florida area. I'm excited to be back living and working in Florida again and would love to assist and support you in any way I can! Let's START!

What should a new client know about working with you?

I hope I have created a supportive and non-judgmental safe space to learn and "Grow!"

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

I click with Katy better than I have with any previous therapist/ councilor. She's easy to talk too, extremely knowledgeable, and guides me in a positive direction.
Katy feels like a perfect match! She has the ability to make you feel as comfortable as a friend but comes to the session with action based resolutions. She’s also incredible at seeing the “big picture” and bringing that to life with no judgment.
