Katrina Meyer, LMSW

Psychotherapist
NY
Hi. Welcome. I’m Katrina. Reaching out for therapy can feel really vulnerable, and I’m glad you’re here. I believe meaningful therapy and healing begin with a strong client-therapist relationship. Feeling understood, accepted, and genuinely connected can lay the foundation for exploring difficult experiences, gaining insight, and creating lasting change. My approach is relationship-focused, collaborative, warm, and authentic. Drawing from trauma-informed, psychodynamic, and evidence-based practices, I work alongside you as you deepen your understanding of yourself, your relationships, and the experiences that have shaped you. Together, we will move at a pace that feels right for you. As a queer adoptee, I understand that questions of identity, belonging, self-acceptance, and self-understanding can be deeply personal and complex. I strive to create a space where all parts of who you are can be welcomed with curiosity and care. My practice is LGBTQ+, neurodivergent-, and identity-affirming. If this resonates with you, please reach out.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, curious, and relational. We will work together to better understand the experiences, emotions, and patterns that have shaped you, all while moving at a pace that feels right for you. We'll laugh sometimes, and we'll also make room for difficult emotions when they arise. Therapy can feel vulnerable, especially in the beginning, so I prioritize creating a space where you feel comfortable showing up exactly as you are. I believe meaningful change happens through a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, authenticity, and collaboration.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Each session is approximately 53 minutes. Our first few sessions will focus on getting to know one another. I'll ask about what is bringing you to therapy, your personal history, your relationships, and what you hope to gain from our work together. Then, you will also have the opportunity to ask me any questions and decide whether I feel like the right fit for you. As we deepen our work together, our sessions will be guided by what feels most important to you day to day, while also keeping your long-term goals in mind. I draw from psychodynamic, trauma-informed, and evidence-based approaches, tailoring therapy to fit each individual.
