Kedlyne Ferrari, LCSW

Psychotherapist
MD
I am originally from New Jersey and was born to two Latin Caribbean immigrant parents, which has shaped both my perspective and approach to therapy. My experience began in addiction work in West Virginia during the height of the opioid crisis, and continued in Baltimore at Powell Recovery Center, where I deepened my work with substance use and trauma. I later specialized in trauma and mood disorders in private practice in Annapolis, and have also spent significant time in medical social work, working in both primary care and oncology settings. Because of these experiences, I work with a wide range of individuals. If you’re trying to break generational patterns related to trauma, neglect, or addiction, I understand the weight of that. If you’re managing a chronic illness and need support coping with the emotional impact, I can help. If you’re experiencing anxiety or depression and are looking for concrete, practical skills to manage your symptoms, I can support you in building tools that work in your daily life. And if you’re a first-generation individual navigating a world your family may not fully understand, I offer a space where you can feel seen, supported, and guided.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients should know that I prioritize helping you truly get to know yourself on a deeper level. Our work will focus on building strong self-awareness through reflection, understanding your patterns, triggers, and the experiences that have shaped who you are while also giving you practical tools to create real change. I don’t believe in just talking through problems. I focus on teaching concrete coping skills that you can use in your everyday life. This includes specific breathing techniques to regulate your nervous system, grounding strategies to manage anxiety in the moment, and structured approaches like DBT skills to help with emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. I also incorporate Internal Family Systems, informed work to help you understand different parts of yourself, build self-compassion, and respond to yourself in a more balanced and intentional way. My goal is for you to leave therapy not just with insight, but with a clear understanding of yourself and a set of tools that help you feel more in control, grounded, and confident in how you navigate your life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I start by getting a clear understanding of the bigger picture—your background, current stressors, and the experiences that have shaped you. This helps me see how different areas of your life are connected. From there, we explore your values and what truly matters to you. This often brings clarity to patterns that may be keeping you stuck or feeling overwhelmed. Together, we then take a closer look at those patterns, identifying what is helping you and what may be working against you. From there, we focus on building practical skills and strategies you can use in your daily life to create meaningful, lasting change.
