Kimberly Gilbert, LMHC

Psychotherapist
WA
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington State with over 25 years of social service experience, 10 of which have been specifically in the mental health field. My career has been focused primarily on working with adults, helping them explore their thoughts and feelings regarding life experiences in order to overcome challenges. Common concerns I have successfully worked with include anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, self-esteem issues, and difficulties with self-compassion and confidence. I have a passion for helping individuals meet their goals, improve the quality of their life, and feel better about who they are and the choices they are making day-to-day. I believe people thrive and overcome challenges when they have support, encouragement, and opportunities to learn and practice new skills. I provide these opportunities through person-centered therapy, forging positive relationships with my clients, listening for patterns, and providing new ways of thinking and interacting with their world.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is collaborative and personalized to each individual. I believe in building a trusting relationship where you feel safe to explore your thoughts and emotions openly while learning and growing through resources and psychoeducation. We will journey together, with me as the tour guide and you as the bus driver. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes. Together, we'll work toward personal growth, emotional well-being, and a greater sense of fulfillment in your daily life. Sessions begin with recognition of something positive, then we discuss and process whatever you've been struggling with that week. Sessions conclude with goal setting and confirmation of the next appointment, to maintain connection and hope. Validation and support are cornerstones throughout our working relationship.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session I'll ask about factors bringing you to therapy, we'll collaboratively develop a safety plan for potential crisis situations, and discuss your therapeutic goals. There's no pressure to share more than you're comfortable with. We'll also talk about how therapy works and what to expect moving forward. My priority is to ensure you feel heard, respected, and at ease as we start this journey together at your own pace.
