“I've only had my first session with Kirsten Montsma so there is so much more to discover about her methods and the interaction between us in resolving the issue that I'm seeking help with. I was pleased with how easy it was to talk with Kirsten and how well she listened and responded in a way that was very convincing, positive, and understanding. I'm really looking forward to our next session so that I can continue to add more details that will help her get a more complete understanding of how I'm perceiving a very difficult situation for me.”

What should a new client know about working with you?

When you work with me, you can expect a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you are encouraged to be yourself. I see therapy as a collaborative process—we’ll work together to explore your experiences, identify patterns, and build tools that help you move toward your goals. I believe growth happens when people feel truly heard and understood, so I aim to bring warmth, curiosity, and compassion into every session.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process is collaborative and tailored to each client’s unique needs. In the beginning, I focus on getting to know you, understanding your story, and clarifying what you’d like to work on. From there, we set goals together and move at a pace that feels comfortable, using evidence-based approaches to support growth and healing. Throughout our work, I check in regularly to make sure therapy feels useful and aligned with your goals.
