What should a new client know about working with you?

I offer a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you and your family can feel heard and understood. My work is rooted in respect, compassion, and cultural awareness. I’m not here to judge or tell you what to do…I’m here to walk alongside you as you make sense of what’s going on and figure out next steps together. My approach is warm, collaborative, and flexible. I believe you are the expert on your own life and your family, and my role is to support you with insight, tools, and guidance. If you’re carrying worry, exhaustion, grief, or the feeling that things are heavier than you can manage alone, you don’t have to hold it by yourself. You are welcome here exactly as you are. When working with children, I primarily use child-centered play therapy to help them express feelings, build confidence, and work through challenges in ways that feel natural and safe. I have a strong interest in supporting children in foster care, kinship care, and families navigating child welfare involvement, as well as caregivers raising children who are not biologically their own. I also work closely with caregivers through parent consultation and parenting support, helping the adults better understand their child’s needs, responding to big emotions, and strengthening connection at home. My work focuses on early childhood and the importance of building strong, secure relationships during the early years, when children’s emotional foundations are forming. No matter who I’m working with, I focus on strengths, practical support, and real life solutions. Sessions are shaped around your needs, your goals, and what feels most helpful for you and your family. If you’re ready (or even just thinking about reaching out), there is space here for you, your child, and your family. We’ll take it one step at a time, together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session, we’ll spend time getting to know one another and talking about what brought you here. This is a chance for you to share your concerns, hopes, and goals at your own pace. I’ll ask thoughtful questions to better understand your child, your family, or your own experiences, while also making sure you feel comfortable and supported. My approach is grounded in compassion, cultural respect, and confidentiality, and you can expect a space where you feel heard and understood. For children ages 3-10, I primarily offer in-person child-centered play therapy. Sessions are child-led and may include play, art, storytelling, and games that allow children to express thoughts and feelings in ways that feel natural to them. Play therapy works best with consistency and in-person connection, which is why sessions are typically scheduled weekly at the same time. Caregivers are an important part of the process. Parent consultation sessions are included regularly to share insights, support connection at home, and offer practical guidance for responding to your child’s needs. For older children, teens, and adults, sessions focus on conversation, reflection, and practical problem-solving. We’ll work together to explore what’s feeling heavy, identify strengths, and build skills to manage stress, emotions, and life challenges. For clients who have experienced trauma, sessions may gently focus on understanding those experiences while strengthening coping and emotional regulation. Over time, sessions may shift depending on your needs, whether that’s learning new tools, processing emotions, strengthening relationships, or simply having a steady, supportive space to talk things through. My goal is to walk alongside you in a collaborative and supportive way, helping you feel empowered and supported as you move forward.
