Getting to know Laura Clayton

My name is Laura Clayton, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) here in South Carolina. I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. By exploring both conscious and unconscious beliefs, you can choose more adaptive beliefs and combine them with new behaviors, creating a whole new reality. I also understand how past traumas impact your approach to the present moment and will address these root issues. My approach While insight and self-understanding are important, deep understanding of oneself does not always translate into behavioral change. I combine process- and insight-oriented psychotherapy with problem-solving, practical CBT interventions that are done between sessions to maximize treatment. My focus I specialize in trauma, depression, anxiety, behavioral issues, and many other challenges individuals may face. My communication style We'll examine the stories you tell yourself that hold you back and keep you stuck. We'll learn to manage feelings and how we judge ourselves for them. We'll shift perspectives on the values we subscribe to and develop new skills to cope. My first session with you Building rapport is important so you can get to know me and I can get to know you. Trust takes time, so as we review your intake paperwork during the first session, we'll talk about what makes you, you.
