Psychotherapist

Do you find yourself struggling with feelings of overwhelm and anxiety, unsure how to feel better or how to access the life you want to live? In practice, I create a safe space for you to be your true, authentic self without fear of judgment. I work with adults on issues related to anxiety, stress, relationships, and traumatic experiences. At different points throughout our lives, we can feel out of harmony with ourselves and those most important to us. Having a compassionate and understanding ally to support you on your journey to feeling more like yourself again can make all the difference. I use a collaborative approach to therapy, strongly influenced by an understanding of attachment theory, trauma, parts-work, and somatic experiencing. I have had formal training in EMDR and Emotionally Focused Therapy. Together, we will work to understand and shift stories ingrained in the psyche and cultivate self-compassion and acceptance. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Denver and a Bachelor’s degree from Lehigh University. At Into the Wild Counseling, I provide in-person Walk and Talk sessions (you and I meet on local hiking or walking trails) as well as telehealth sessions. Calling a therapist can be intimidating, but I hope you'll take a moment (and a deep breath) to begin your journey with me to feeling happier, more confident, and more secure.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I draw from a few therapeutic techniques to tailor my approach to your unique needs. My primary goal is to understand your core values and personality, and make efforts to support you in aligning your actions with who you are. I have received extensive training in both Emotionally Focused Therapy as well as EMDR Therapy. I incorporate a variety of additional therapeutic techniques such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), Psychodynamic Therapy and mindfulness. In our work together, I will invite you to explore your past in order to help you become more aware of emotions and feelings that may be repressed. I will invite you to bring elements of your subconscious to your present awareness in order to shed light on patterns of behavior which cause pain and discomfort. At Into the Wild, I also provide nature-based, or wilderness counseling, which is individualized therapy in a natural setting. These sessions take place outdoors instead of being confined to an office space or over video calls. In these sessions, you can expect a combination of traditional psychotherapy services as well as elements borrowed from the Japanese tradition of Shinrin-Yuko, also known as 'forest bathing', or 'absorbing the forest atmosphere'. This practice encourages individuals to live in the moment by immersing themselves in nature using their five senses — no actual bathing required!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Before we jump into our work together, I like to schedule a 15 minute consultation call, free of charge. During this call we will get to know a little bit more about each other, and you can share what you're looking for out of treatment.
