Getting to know Lauretta Akpoyoware

Hi, there! Thanks for taking the time to visit my page. I am an independent Licensed Professional Counselor from the great state of Texas with a passion for working with individuals dealing with various life challenges. I graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Master’s in Counseling. I specialize in everyday life problems, mood disorders, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, addiction, trauma, and adjustment issues. I also have experience working with people from all walks of life and assisting individual clients, couples, and families experiencing relationship issues. I believe no individual is the same, so my goal is to empower you with specific tools needed to improve your situation. I currently provide individual services to clients experiencing suicidal thoughts, mental health concerns, substance abuse, and PTSD, utilizing a client-centered, CBT, and solution-focused approach to assist clients in therapy. I am also able to counsel from a faith-based approach based on the need and at the request of my clients.

What should a new client know about working with you?

" The first few sessions are typically focused on rapport building and getting to know each other. You can expect to feel heard and seen, treated with dignity and respect in a judgment free environment. You can feel empowered and better equipped to tackle life's challenges through the application of tools provided during and after sessions."

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
