Getting to know Leslie Epstein

Welcome! As a psychotherapist with over 25 years experience, I incorporate different modalities so that together we can find what works best for you. I completed psychoanalytic training and hold an MBA which guides my work with professional and career issues. Areas of focus include depression, anxiety, self- esteem, relationship and family issues, stressors of acculturation and identity, and LGBTQ+ issues. Some of my referrals come from local Universities such as NYU. My first job after graduate school was in a hospital setting, and I continue to work with people coping with chronic and acute medical conditions. I completed post graduate psychoanalytic psychotherapy training and remain an active participant in ongoing post graduate education and seminars.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I maintain an engaged and active role, and often work with people who have not found past therapy experiences to be very helpful. My style is empathic as well as honest and direct, and I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space. I remain curious about factors such as identity, background and privilege that influence us all. Together, we will explore what modalities, such as psychoanalytic/psychodynamic psychotherapy or CBT, are best suited to your situation and preferences. Often, clients find that psychodynamic psychotherapy is the most effective way to address long standing issues.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I am meeting in person as well as providing video sessions. Finding the right fit with a therapist is key, so I welcome a brief phone call or initial consultation to see if we would work well together. Please feel free to reach out!
