Lily Kim, LMSW

Lily Kim, LMSW

Psychotherapist
NY
As a Korean-American child of immigrants, I am passionate about working with BIPOC and immigrant individuals who are navigating the liminal spaces between cultures and identities. My approach is trauma-informed and culturally sensitive, integrating narrative therapy, somatic work, and attachment theory. I also have particular experience working with adolescents and young adults, as well as survivors of complex trauma, including hate crimes, interpersonal violence, and sexual assault. I hold a Master's in Social Work from New York University and a Bachelor's degree from Amherst College, which have both shaped my commitment to culturally responsive and trauma-informed care. As your therapist, I'll accompany you as we develop a new way to name your experiences and tell your story, moving toward healing. Together, we'll face the hard questions and complicated feelings that might come up when you think about how you got here and what has shaped you-childhood experiences, family of origin, systems of power and oppression, and so on. We'll extend compassion and nonjudgmental curiosity to the different identities that make up who you are, freeing you to explore them safely. This might be your first time seeking therapy, or your fifth. You may be coming to therapy feeling ready to jump right in, or you may be coming with some uncertainty and discomfort. Wherever you're coming from and whatever you're bringing with you, I welcome you to take this step toward change, growth, and healing.
